How to Choose Samtec Distributors for ERM8 Connectors: A Cost Controller's Guide

Figure out your situation before you pick a distributor. High volume? Prioritize allocation guarantees and written terms over the cheapest sticker price. Prototyping? Pay for zero MOQ and speed—it's the better total cost. Engineering support needed? Verify FAEs who actually respond to inquiries.

And whatever you do, don't choose a distributor on unit price alone. That's the mistake I've seen procurement teams make repeatedly. What I mean by total cost is the full picture: the freight, the admin time handling exceptions, the production line risk if a delivery slips, and the hidden cost of a "low" quote that doesn't survive contact with reality. The cheapest quote is not the lowest total cost. Not in the same quarter, and definitely not over a product's lifecycle.
